Administrative steps
The E.I.L. System was patented in March 1998 and extended to an international level in February 1999. The very first application of the system was officially presented at the 16th International Trade Fair of Electrotechnics and Electronics (Milan, 18th - 22nd May 1999), by OVA Bargellini s.p.A., a leading Italian firm in the production of emergency lighting systems. In July 1999, the European Patent Office certified the originality of the patent and conveyed the results of its examination, according to the provisions of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The competent Body confirmed that all claims made in the patent application effectively fulfil the requirements of novelty, involving an inventive step and industrial applicability. In September 2000 the Patent was made national at the level of single states.
